We all face times of uncertainty in our lives when an old story that we have lived in no longer supports us. Our past seems to have pushed us out and a story has come to an end.
We find ourselves standing at a threshold, a liminal place between two worlds, which can be both enlivening and terrifying. We may arrive here feeling anxious, confused, stuck, unhappy or excited by new possibilities, ready to embrace our unfolding future. No matter what, there is one potent question that holds us: what will become of me now?
Questions stand as guardians at the gate of our future. For, it is the questions we ask, the questions we don’t ask, the questions we are afraid of asking that will shape our destiny. On this journey, we meet two types of questions: visionary and survival. Where one is expansive, creative and inspired, the other is contracted, anxious and fearful. Only by asking these bolder visionary questions can we step out of the captivity of our past and journey into the kind of future we are ready to live in.
